It is logical that when you do not like something you look for alternatives and obviously Mac users have many options to change something if they do not like it, but also the company to which one is thinking of leaving gives you a tool or utility that simplifies the work of «transfer» Well, more reason to consider it. The truth is that Evernote has been looking for a way to monetize for a long time and they have not left aside some options that can and are in fact compromising the continuity of users looking for other options that They offer the same how it can be Microsoft OneNote or Google Drive. I need a backup solution independent of Evernote but I now have thousands of documents organized inside Evernote and manually backing up the files is not practical, not to mention defeats the whole purpose of using software like Evernote in the first place.Surely we are all clear that Microsoft is the most interested in taking to its field all those users who may have some doubt in some applications or software that today offers the same as others but with the difference that some are «free ✺nd others do not.
This is my worst fear of SaaS came true: SaaS becoming ransomware. Yinxiang can migrate my local Evernote data over to their server so I can access them IF I use their service. I knew syncing would be problematic due to the nature of Chinese Firewall but I was actually cutoff from my local data while I was there because I could not log back into the software as the authentication has to go through Yinxiang server.
Also I was in China and Evernote apparently licenses its technology to a local company called Yinxiang and any online reference to Evernote inside China is DNS redirected to Yinxiang, including log-in authentication. If Evernote is out of business then my data will be gone forever. So if I am logged out and offline, my data is no longer accessible even locally because I cannot sign back in. However, I recently found out Evernote no longer has a true offline mode where I can access my database without the software phoning home to authenticate a fresh log-in. I've been an Evernote user for 10+ years and even adapted Evernote for my business.
